Mrs Happiness Chidi, a widow from Ofeh community in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, tells The PUNCH how her late husband, Isaiah Chidi, a pastor with The Apostolic Church was killed by his kinsman.
She said she lived in Ofeh community in Omuma LGA of Rivers State and explained that her husband was a pastor by profession.
She further stated that the man who killed her husband was his kinsman, Chiwendu Nwalozie. According to her, although they were not biological brothers, they were regarded as brothers under their family lineage and had lived in the same compound inherited from their fathers.
She added that both men had coexisted in the same compound for many years, even before she got married to her husband.
Mrs Chidi also recounted that the tragic incident occurred on Thursday, February 12, 2026, explaining that she had prepared breakfast for her husband early that morning before leaving for her farm as an oil palm farmer and merchant, leaving him in good condition.
Further talking, she said, “In the afternoon, my husband called to send greetings to me. But in the evening, as I was still working on the farm, my two daughters came to the farm weeping profusely. I was shocked to see them. They broke the news that Nwalozie had killed their father.
“They were crying, so I thought I didn’t hear them well. It looked like a joke. I asked them again, and they both chorused, ‘Our father is dead.’ That was how I ran to our compound, only to find my husband in a pool of his blood.”
Mrs Happiness Chidi explained that her husband was hacked to death with a cutlass by his kinsman, whom they regarded as a brother. She stated that he was brutally attacked and almost dismembered, with machete wounds all over his body, including his arms, legs, and chest.
She recounted that when she saw him, he was nearly lifeless and completely helpless, which caused her great pain. She said she initially thought he was still alive, prompting her to cry out for help and rush him to a nearby hospital.
According to her, the doctor informed her that he could not save her husband and referred her to another hospital. She added that her husband died on the way before they could reach the second hospital, describing the experience as one she would never want to relive. Read_More…
