According to a report by Vanguard on Sunday, May 31, 2026, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, has declared that the Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, would not secure up to 10 percent of the total votes cast in Rivers State during the 2027 presidential election.

Wike expressed confidence in the political strength of his Rainbow Coalition, insisting that the alliance remains firmly positioned to determine the electoral outcome in the state.

He stated that the coalition’s structure and support base would significantly influence voting patterns during the general elections.

Wike also maintained that no candidate from any political party outside the Rainbow Coalition would emerge victorious in the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State.

According to him, the coalition has resolved to present a united front and ensure that its agreed candidate succeeds in the contest.

He emphasized that the coalition’s members are committed to working together toward achieving their political objectives and maintaining influence in the state’s political landscape.

The former governor of Rivers State made the remarks on Saturday while speaking at a luncheon organized in honour of candidates of the Rainbow Coalition for the 2027 general elections.

The event, which brought together coalition members and political stakeholders, served as a platform for discussing preparations for the forthcoming elections and strategies for consolidating political support across the state.

Wike used the occasion to reaffirm the coalition’s determination to remain a dominant force in Rivers politics.

The Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State is made up of members drawn from several political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Action Alliance (AA), and the Labour Party (LP).

Wike explained that the coalition was established to unite political interests across party lines and strengthen collaboration among its members.

He said the alliance remains focused on achieving success in both the presidential and governorship elections scheduled for 2027.

He said, “ADC and NDC have not run election before. They do not understand election. They only understand defection. This is the time they will see election practical. They will have the experience and they will see what is in election starting from Rivers State.”….Read_More…
