ADC chieftain, Honorable Idris Kalgo, has declared that if the African Democratic Congress nominates activist Omoyele Sowore as its presidential candidate, Sowore will defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election, insisting that whoever emerges on the ADC ticket will become Nigeria’s next president.
Speaking on Trust TV from 6:55, Kalgo was reacting to questions about the party’s legal challenges and tight INEC deadlines, with the submission of the party’s membership register due by May 10, 2026, ahead of primaries and the national convention.
He was asked whether a recent court verdict would re-energize the ADC and stop members from defecting due to anxiety over its survival. Kalgo said the ruling absolutely will restore confidence in the party.
He acknowledged that many members had been considering other alternatives and wondering if they should move elsewhere, but maintained that the ADC remains the main political platform.
According to him, the ADC is everywhere and enjoys widespread support among Nigerians. He argued that the actions taken against the ADC by the APC have turned into a blessing for the party.
He said the more the ADC is attacked and efforts are made to prevent it from getting on the ballot, the more Nigerians see what the ruling party is trying to do. Kalgo described the situation as a win for the ADC because it provides free publicity, so he encouraged those behind the attacks to continue.
In his words, “Just like as you said, many people were kind of thinking, oh, should we move to the other? Should we look for another alternative? No, but ADC is the main platform.”
“And let me tell you one thing, if today the ADC decided to make Sowore the presidential candidate, Sowore will win against Tinubu. Whoever emerges in ADC is going to be the next president in Nigeria because it’s everywhere. ADC is everywhere. Nigerian people love the party.”…Read_More…
