General Godwin Alabi Isama (rtd), Chief of Staff to Brigadier Benjamin Adekunle of the 3 Marine Commando, has stated that he witnessed people starving during the Nigerian Civil War
In an interview from 11:55 with BBC Pidgin, General Isama said he saw a woman who had not eaten for several days and she was so thin that her ribs could be counted.
Genera Isama stated that the child the woman was carrying was also badly affected by hunger and had become extremely small and weak. He said despite the woman’s condition, she still tried to breastfeed her child.
General Isama also said that when the war ended, he saw dead bodies everywhere. He added that what he witnessed was a disaster.
