Delta State-based security analyst Osajie Dickson has expressed concern over the activities of bandits and questioned the ability of security agencies to track and apprehend individuals he believes are operating within Nigeria’s territorial space while using social media platforms to communicate.

Speaking during an interview from 15:44 on Channels Television, Dickson said advances in technology and the public nature of some online activities should make it easier for security agencies to identify and arrest individuals linked to criminal activities across the country.

“It’s impossible for you to tell me you cannot track most of these people. As I speak to you, I follow one or two of them, and whenever they tweet, I see it live. And I keep on watching. I say, ‘Hey, is it that the DSS cannot go after these people and pick them within our territorial space?'”

He maintained that the activities of bandits remain a major security challenge and stressed the need for sustained efforts by relevant authorities to improve intelligence gathering and strengthen responses aimed at tackling insecurity across affected communities.
