In a recent interview with Arise News from 8:10, Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and appealed to youths in the South East to remain patient and supportive of the government’s policy formulation and implementation process.

Kalu’s plea comes on the heels of President Tinubu’s signing of two significant bills aimed at accelerating development across the North-West and South-East geo-political zones of Nigeria. The bills, North-West Development Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2024, and South-East Development Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2023, demonstrate the government’s commitment to addressing regional disparities and developmental needs.

The Deputy Speaker acknowledged the region’s expectations but emphasized the importance of allowing policies to mature, stating, “Now is the time of laying foundation, being one in government, the next is to allow the policies mature.” He encouraged youths to reject protests and instead embrace the process, saying, “Say No to protests, say Yes to process.”
