Dan Nwanyanwu has publicly disclosed a threat to his life by an agent of the FCT Minister and former governor of River State, Nyesom Wike. Nwanyanwu, an influential public figure, has often been vocal about national issues, particularly those affecting River State. Recently, he found himself in a perilous situation that has prompted him to speak out.

Nwanyanwu recounts a harrowing experience at the Transcorp Hilton pastry shop, where he was enjoying snacks and coffee with a friend. He was approached by Chief Moses Emmanuel, a self-identified brother of wike who confronted him aggressively. “Chief Moses Emmanuel, this bloodthirsty killer, brazenly confronted me at the pastry shop in Transcorp Hilton where I was having snacks and coffee with my friend. He introduced himself as a brother to wike. and began threatening my life, referencing a televised interview where I expressed my views on the avoidable crisis in River State.”

In his televised interview from from 0:38, Nwanyanwu had raised concerns about the ongoing interference by Wike in the governance of River State. He stated, “I raised my voice as I always have on issues of national interest, expressing concern over Wike’s interference in the governance of River State, a state he governed for eight years.” Nwanyanwu emphasised the potential consequences of such interference, highlighting the risk of exacerbating Nigeria’s already fragile economic situation. “If law and order break down in River State, the impact on Nigeria’s already poor economic situation will worsen, possibly leading to larger conflicts in a country already facing many flashpoints. No patriotic leader would ignore such impending danger.”
