Ray Emeana, Director-General of the Ahiajoku Centre in Imo State, has warned that excluding Governor Hope Uzodinma from the Imo West senatorial ballot could trigger political unrest in the state.

Emeana gave the warning during an interview from 26:24 on Channels TV on Friday, October 30, 2026, while discussing the dispute over the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket.

The controversy centres on conflicting claims over who should represent the party in the contest. A Federal High Court judgment reportedly recognised former Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha as the winner of the APC primary, while the party’s state chapter has questioned the ruling and maintained its position on Uzodinma’s candidacy.

Speaking on the possible consequences of removing Uzodinma from the ballot, Emeana said the decision could deepen divisions among party members and political supporters, given the level of attention the dispute has attracted.

He also expressed concern about the competing interests surrounding the nomination, noting that the disagreement could further heighten political tension in Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Emphasising the risk of excluding the governor from the contest, Emeana said, “If you remove the name of Senator Hope Uzodinma from the ballot, there will be chaos.”
