Senator Shehu Sani has paid tribute to Chief IK Madu, a former Kaduna State House of Assembly member who represented the Kakuri-Makera constituency from 1999 to 2003.
Sani shared the tribute in a post on his personal X handle on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, describing Madu as an Igbo man from Imo State who contested and won an Assembly seat in Kaduna State under the Alliance for Democracy (AD).
Recalling Madu’s political journey, the former senator highlighted how he secured an elective position in a state different from his state of origin during the early years of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic, which began in 1999 after the country returned to democratic rule following years of military government.
Madu’s election to the Kaduna State legislature placed him among the politicians who served during the opening years of the Fourth Republic. His representation of Kakuri-Makera lasted from 1999 to 2003.
Concluding his tribute, Sani offered a prayer for the deceased, writing, “May his soul rest in peace.”
