Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo Asari, a former militant leader and traditional ruler of Torusarama-Piri in Elem Kalabari, has defended his contributions to his community while responding to critics he accused of overlooking his efforts and sacrifices.

He made the remarks during a live broadcast on his official Facebook page from 37:12  on Thursday, October 29, 2026, where he also spoke about his personal wealth, including his Rolls-Royce and yacht.

Dokubo challenged his critics to explain what they had done for their communities, saying he regularly spoke about his people wherever he went. Defending his commitment to the Kalabari community, he said, “How many of you talk about your community everywhere you go to? I talk about my community everywhere I go.”

He also pointed to the roads he said he helped bring to his community, questioning why people would criticise him despite his contributions. Recalling the projects, Dokubo said, “From the first road that entered our community, who brought it? Was it not me? And now the second road. And you open your mouth to talk nonsense about me.”

The traditional ruler also brought up the deaths and alleged extrajudicial killings associated with the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) and the Niger Delta struggle, arguing that the experiences of those involved should not be overlooked. Recalling the people who died during that period, he said, “You know how many people who died, executed, extra-judicially executed.”

Dokubo further alleged that the grandson of a former Amanyanabo of Kalabari was killed extrajudicially during the IYC and Niger Delta struggle. Referring to the incident and his own survival, he said, “I told you that the grandson of the former Amayanabo of Kalabari was extra-judicially terminated during the IYC, during the Niger Delta struggle, that I survived and arrested. And you come and look at me and talk. Do you know?”

He later challenged his critics to consider his financial standing before speaking against him, pointing to the vehicles he owns. Speaking about his wealth, Dokubo said, “Do you have the money? How many people? I drive the cars that presidents don’t drive.”

He specifically mentioned his Rolls-Royce, claiming that nobody else in Nigeria had a vehicle like his. He also compared his yacht with those owned by some of the country’s wealthiest people. Boasting about his possessions, he said, “My Rolls-Royce, nobody has it. Go and see my yacht. In the whole of Nigeria, the richest people, their yacht is not half as big as my yacht.”

Dokubo concluded by challenging anyone who doubted his claim to identify another person in Nigeria who owned a similar Rolls-Royce. Pointing to the vehicle, he said, “Look at my Rolls-Royce. If you have seen anybody that has it in Nigeria.”
