Omoyele Sowore has recounted how he used to take Phenylbutazone, a drug he recently discovered was primarily used as a painkiller for horses, while working after secondary school.
Speaking in an exclusive interview from 7:51 with Sahara TV, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate said he began cutting trees with a chainsaw at the age of 16 to earn money after completing secondary school.
Sowore explained that the physically demanding work often left him exhausted and in pain, prompting him to visit local chemists to buy Phenylbutazone to help him recover.
He said he only discovered the drug’s intended use after researching it recently.
Recalling his discovery, Sowore said, “I was just doing research recently, this is as recently as a month ago, I said what is this Phenylbutazone that we used to take when I was 16 years old. It turns out that they were high-profile painkillers meant for horses, not even human beings”
