During an interview with Arise TV from 2:34, Buba Galadima, NNPP Chairman, has spoken out against the tendency to equate Islam with a particular ethnic group, specifically the Hausa. Galadima emphasized that he is neither Hausa nor Fulani, but a Muslim, highlighting the diversity of the Muslim community in Nigeria.

He expressed frustration when people use “Hausa” as a proxy for “Muslim”, perpetuating stereotypes and bigotry. Galadima noted that this conflation is not only inaccurate but also harmful, as it reduces the rich tapestry of Islamic identity to a single ethnic label.

According to him, “I’m carried when people say Hausa, when they want to refer to Islam and they don’t want to be identified as bigots. They say Hausa so that descibes Islam as far as Nigerians are concerned because I’m neither Hausa or Fulani but I’m Muslim. As you know, this Id el kabir had come at one of the most difficult times in the history of Nigeria and I can assure you that less than 20% of those who are eligible to perform the religious function of slaughtering the ram were unable to do it.”…..Sée Móre
