Former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has defended the leadership structure of the African Democratic Congress, insisting that due process was followed in the emergence of the party’s current leadership.
Speaking during an interview from 1:24 on SYMFONI TV, Melaye cited decisions taken by the party’s National Executive Committee, saying the appointments of key figures, including David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, were validly ratified at a properly constituted NEC meeting.
He made the clarification while responding to controversy surrounding the role of Nafiu in the party and questions over the legitimacy of the appointments. According to Melaye, Nafiu had already stepped down from the party before the NEC took its decision.

The former lawmaker argued that Nafiu’s presence at the NEC meeting further undermines attempts to challenge the legitimacy of the decisions taken, noting that the ratification was carried out with the knowledge and participation of party stakeholders.
Melaye maintained that internal party processes were followed and dismissed suggestions that the appointments were irregular or imposed outside constitutional procedures. Read_More…
