According to a report by Times of Israel, on Sunday April 12, 2026, US President Donald Trump expressed unwavering confidence on Wednesday that Iran will ultimately surrender to all American demands in ongoing nuclear negotiations, even as talks stalled over Tehran’s refusal to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

In an interview with Fox Business Channel, Trump said the United States walked away from the latest round of discussions having achieved the vast majority of its objectives — but insisted that a partial victory was not sufficient.

“We got just about every point we needed except for the fact that they refuse to give up their nuclear ambition,” Trump said.

Rather than treat the impasse as a setback, Trump framed it as a temporary delay before what he predicted would be a full Iranian capitulation. “I predict they come back and give us everything we want,” he said. “I don’t want 95 percent. I told them. I want everything.”

The president was dismissive of Iran’s negotiating posture, suggesting that the country entered the talks with a misplaced sense of confidence. “They came in like they have the cards, but they don’t have the cards,” Trump said.

On the nuclear question specifically, Trump drew a hard line. “They want to have nuclear weapons. They’re not going to have nuclear weapons,” he said, leaving no ambiguity about the American position.

Trump also addressed his threatened blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow waterway through which a substantial share of global oil exports travel. He said the measure would be “effective pretty soon,” adding, “We’re going to clean out the strait. They’re not going to be able to use the strait in not too long a distance.”

When pressed on Iran’s potential response, Trump conceded that the country could resort to mining the strait — a tactic that would pose serious risks to commercial shipping. He suggested the threat alone would be enough to deter tanker operators from risking their vessels.

Trump also warned that a military escalation remained within reach, saying “I can take out Iran in one day” and its energy infrastructure within an hour, though he indicated he preferred a diplomatic resolution.

He closed by pointing to the United States’ close alliance with Israel as a key pillar of the current pressure campaign against Tehran. “As Bibi Netanyahu said, we’re the big brother, and they’re the small brother. It’s been a very effective team,” Trump said. Read_More…
