Human rights activist Peter Akah has strongly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over what he described as an insensitive response to a deadly attack in Jos.

Akah made the remarks during an interview from 0:50 on News Central TV, where he expressed concern about the president’s conduct during a visit to Jos following the killing of more than 20 people. The activist argued that the visit failed to reflect the gravity of the situation or the expectations Nigerians have of their leader in moments of crisis.

Speaking during the interview, Akah said, “A president visited a state that more than 20 persons were killed and stayed in the airport and said that because there is no light, I have 10 minutes to spend and I’m going back. Guess what, that President is supposed to be head of the City Boys movement.” He used the statement to question the level of empathy demonstrated by the administration, suggesting that such actions undermine public confidence in leadership.

Akah further stressed that in times of tragedy, citizens expect visible and reassuring leadership, especially from the nation’s highest office.
