According to The Cable, Solomon Dalyop Mwantiri, the national president of the Berom Youth Moulders Association, has linked the recent attack in Plateau State to prior intelligence indicating the infiltration of terrorist groups into the region.

According to him, warning signs had emerged weeks before the incident, suggesting that armed groups were already positioning themselves for coordinated assaults across Plateau and other parts of the Middle Belt.

Speaking with TheCable, Mwantiri revealed, “Since three weeks ago, we got intel that terrorist gangs have moved into Plateau.”

He explained that these groups did not arrive randomly but had established operational bases in preparation for violence.

“They built camps ready for attack. The foot soldiers of Bello Turji and others from Nasarawa and Southern Kaduna have moved into the state,” he added, pointing to what he described as a broader network of armed elements converging on the area.

Mwantiri expressed concern that despite the early warnings, there was no decisive intervention from security agencies to neutralize the threat.

He noted that his group had anticipated swift action based on the intelligence gathered, emphasizing that proactive measures could have prevented the escalation into violence.

The failure to act, he implied, allowed the attackers to execute their plans with devastating consequences.

In response to the deteriorating security situation, the Plateau State Government imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area.

The restriction, which took effect from midnight on March 29 and is scheduled to last until April 1, is aimed at restoring calm and preventing any further breakdown of law and order. Read_More…
