Former Rivers State Governor and ADC vice-presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi has claimed that Nyesom Wike and his political associates are seeking reconciliation with Governor Siminalayi Fubara ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Amaechi made the remarks during an appearance from 20:14 on Mainland 98.3 FM’s The Situation Room programme in Lagos, where he questioned the confidence of Wike’s camp in securing victory for President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State.

He pointed to the FCT Minister’s frequent presence in Port Harcourt, despite his official responsibilities in Abuja, as a sign that the political group may be concerned about its chances in the state.

The former transportation minister also alleged that Wike’s associates had been approaching Fubara and members of the governor’s political camp to settle their differences, suggesting the move could be linked to the election.

Amaechi said he had visited Port Harcourt only once and remained in Abuja because he was confident in the ADC’s support in Rivers State. He questioned why his opponents were campaigning if they were certain of winning.

He said, “Why are they campaigning if they know they would win Rivers? They have left Abuja, they now live in Port Harcourt.”

Amaechi further alleged that Wike’s camp was appealing to the governor and his supporters to restore their relationship, saying, “I have gone to Port Harcourt only once. If I’m not confident I won’t stay in Abuja. But they are now living in Port Harcourt, begging everybody that ‘We want to make peace with you, Siminalayi Fubara we want to make peace with you, Fubara’s supporters we want to make peace with you,’”
