According to a report by The Sun, on Saturday July 11, 2026, Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will receive overwhelming support from voters in the South East during the 2027 presidential election.
Umahi made the statement while inspecting ongoing Federal Government projects in Ebonyi State, he said the region would strongly back Tinubu when Nigerians return to the polls in 2027.
According to the minister, the political landscape in the South East is changing as many residents continue to assess the impact of Federal Government projects and policies in the region, he argued that growing infrastructure development and other government interventions would influence voters’ decisions in the next election.
The former Ebonyi State governor maintained that support for President Tinubu is increasing across the South East, he expressed optimism that the region would reward the President with a large number of votes when the time comes.
Umahi addressed comments made by former Anambra State governor and presidential hopeful Peter Obi, he stated that his position was not driven by personal disagreements or political hostility.
The minister explained that his views were based on his assessment of political realities in the South East, he stressed that public figures should present facts accurately and focus on issues that will benefit the people of the region.
According to him, leaders have a responsibility to provide honest information and contribute positively to the development of the South East, he noted that political discussions should centre on progress, governance, and the welfare of citizens rather than personal disputes.
