Peter Obi, the NDC presidential candidate, has reacted to allegation that when he was governor of Anambra State he gave northerners in the state identification tag.

In an interview from 16:30 with Channels Television, Obi described the allegation as false and said it never happened. He stated that his Aide-de-Camp (ADC) was a northern Muslim from Kaduna. He questioned how he could have given northerners in Anambra identity tags when his closest security aide was a northern Muslim.

Obi also said some commissioners who served in his government throughout his eight years as governor were from northern Nigeria. Obi added that many of his close friends are northerners

In Obi’s words: “That is a lie, it never happened. Sheriff’s ADC is from the north. Most governors choose their ADC from their own, my ADC is from Kaduna and is a Muslim. So how can you have a Muslim as the closest person to you and you are giving his people tag. All the commissioners that served with me in the 8 years I was in office were from the north, so how did I give people from the north tags”
