Nigerian lawyer and political analyst Buhari Yusuf has described Peter Obi’s reported willingness to serve a single four-year term as a placeholder for northern power as a dangerous and politically unworkable idea.
Speaking in an interview from 8:11 with Daily Trust, He said, “Obi’s idea of a four-year term as a placeholder for the North is a dangerous political narrative. Very dangerous. Why should you elect to go for only one term to assuage political correctness?” he said.
He argued that the position reveals a deeper problem with Obi’s political standing. “This is the reason why the guy is becoming this desperate and going for this political correctness possibly because he sees the situation quite as bad as it is, and no space for him to operate,” Yusuf added.
He also weighed in on why he believes the APC is wary of a potential Obi and Kwankwaso alliance, arguing that the ruling party understands Nigerian voter psychology better than most.
