Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Communications, Daniel Bwala, has claimed that supporters of the Obedient Movement are beginning to abandon the group, alleging that many now believe it is built on hatred rather than patriotism.
Bwala made the remarks in a post shared on his X handle on Friday while commenting on what he described as a growing internal crisis within the movement associated with Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The Obedient Movement emerged as a grassroots support group for Obi during the 2023 presidential election, when he contested under the Labour Party and attracted widespread backing, particularly among young Nigerians.
Reacting to what he termed a “silent political civil war” within the camp, Bwala alleged that members were beginning to question the direction and purpose of the movement.
“There is a silent political civil war going on in the Obidient camp,” Bwala wrote.
He further claimed that some supporters had realised the movement was “not a political movement but a hate, vitriol and unpatriotic movement.”
According to the presidential aide, the group’s members regularly discredit Nigeria, its citizens and its leaders despite aspiring to govern the country.
“They hate the country they want to govern. You only need to hear them discrediting Nigeria, Nigerians and Nigerian leaders,” he said.
Bwala added that supporters were gradually seeing what he described as the true nature of the movement and were beginning to leave.
“Their members are beginning to see through the lenses. They are abandoning the so-called movement. Gbajue Gbajue Gbajue,” he concluded.
The remarks are the latest in a series of exchanges between Bwala and supporters of Peter Obi, with the presidential aide frequently criticising the opposition figure and his loyalists on social media.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Peter Obi nor the leadership of the Obedient Movement had responded to Bwala’s latest claims….See More
