In a recent interview from 20:45 on Trust TV, former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Usman Yusuf, spoke on northern politics, voter perception, and the evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

During the interview, Yusuf stated, “I know the North more than he does; he cannot come and tell me about the North.” He made the remark while discussing former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and what he described as differing perspectives on the realities and challenges of northern Nigeria.

Yusuf argued that political actors seeking national leadership must demonstrate a deep and practical understanding of the regions they intend to govern, especially the North, which he described as facing complex issues around insecurity, poverty, and underdevelopment.
