Mohammed Ngoshe, a retired Assistant Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), has disclosed that security forces surrounded and engaged the terrorists behind the abduction of pupils and a teacher in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, leading to the elimination of some of the attackers and the capture of others with critical injuries.
Speaking during an interview from 8:45 on Channels Television on Wednesday, 15 July, 2026, Ngoshe said the coordinated operation involved multiple security agencies and was carried out after the successful recovery of the abducted victims. He noted that the security forces were able to corner the terrorists before launching the final assault.
“They were all surrounded. They were engaged and some of them were eliminated and about 4 of them were critically wounded and picked,” Ngoshe said.
According to the retired DSS chief, the operation dealt a significant blow to the terrorist group by neutralising some of its members while taking others into custody. He explained that the wounded suspects were captured after sustaining serious injuries during the exchange with security personnel.
Ngoshe said the outcome of the operation reflected the effectiveness of intelligence-led coordination among the various security agencies involved in the mission.
