Sen Lee Maeba, a former PDP Governorship Aspirant in Rivers State, has expressed his concerns about the disturbing incident of secretariats being set on fire, which he believed was a result of the actions of the FCT Minister’s supporters. He stated that Wike’s recent actions have created a pathway to trouble in the state, and it is essential to address the issue promptly.

He emphasized that the crux of the matter is not the disagreement between the current governor and the former governor but rather the need for the state to move forward and comply with the law. He identified that the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission was established by law, and if anyone feels that the commission is not functioning correctly, they should seek legal redress rather than taking matters into their own hands. He argued that resorting to violence and disrupting the state’s peace is unacceptable.

He said in an interview with Channels TV from 25:03, ‘So many secretariats were set on fire this morning. Our friend Nyesom Wike has set up a pathway to trouble in this state. There is a governor, and whatever issue is between the governor and the former governor is not the issue. The issue we have here now is that the state must move forward and comply with every law. The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission was set up by law.

If you feel that the commission was not doing the right thing, you can go to court. You don’t need to take the law into your own hands to ensure that you bring down the state. And even the process of marching on the streets on election day, which they did on Saturday, is completely shameful.'”
