The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has urged the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike to prioritize the well-being of Rivers state since he was once a governor in the state. He stated that the issue at hand in the state is straightforward and revolves around power and control.

He chose not to elaborate on the matter, but instead appealed to all parties involved to put aside their differences and work towards a peaceful resolution. He emphasized that he has fulfilled all his commitments to his former Boss. He argued that the state was once a model for others, and now it’s time to offer support to the new administration.

He said in an interview with Channels TV from 0:30, ‘We all know the issue; it’s very simple and has to do with the issue of power and control. If the election has been held in Rivers State and the Council chairmen have been inaugurated, in a normal situation, do we even need anybody to go and obstruct them from entering the secretariat? Maybe there’s somebody somewhere who believes they are still higher than the authority in the state. It’s just an issue of power, but I don’t intend to discuss it.

However, let me tell you, there is no understanding that I have not kept. And that’s why I’m appealing to everyone to sheath their swords, even to the minister. There is no need to destroy the state; you once ruled the state as governor. The state was the envy of every other state, and another person is there now. What you need is to give support after four years. And who knows, after eight years, I will also leave, and another person will take over. That should be the spirit when it comes to the election period; you can fight and do whatever, but now it’s time for governance.”
