Former Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Andrew Emwanta, has stated that he was not sacked by Godwin Obaseki, rather he resigned from his office because Godwin Obaseki wanted him to approve some money for the purchase of a software which was not going to last for one year and he refused to do so.

Andrew Emwanta made this statement during an interview with a journalist on Channels Television. During the interview, Andrew Emwata said From 37:38 To 38:42, “Godwin Obaseki wanted me to approve N1.7 billion for the purchase of a software that will not last for one year. I refused and told the chairman of the board that the Governor should tell me why I should approve such a thing.”

“If I approved the money, when the EFCC comes after him (Godwin Obaseki), the people that did the approval will be held accountable. The following day after I refused to approve the money, the governor had a meeting with us and the deputy governor protested that the former secretary to the state government was misusing the funds of oil and gas and his protest led to disagreement between the governor and the deputy governor. The governor decided to dissolve the exco.”

“I was labeled as one of the rebels that went against the governor and I told him that I will not come back to his government. I resigned from the party and stated that the Governor has refused to develop my local government.
