Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Media, Ovie Success Ossai, has reacted to a viral video involving Reno Omokri and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, expressing concern over the conduct displayed in the encounter.
The video, released on Sunday, May 10, 2026, by Omokri, Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico, showed him meeting Obi at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where he called out, exchanged handshakes, briefly spoke, and placed a hand on Obi’s shoulder.
Omokri captioned the clip as a warm airport greeting shared online, drawing wide reactions.
In a post his Facebook page, Ossai said he was disappointed in Omokri’s behaviour, stating that even though he is not a supporter of Peter Obi, he found the gesture disrespectful and unnecessary.
He questioned the intention behind touching Obi’s shoulder, suggesting it could have been avoided to prevent tension or misinterpretation.
Ossai further raised concerns about what might have happened if Obi had reacted negatively, stressing that public figures should avoid actions capable of provoking avoidable conflict.
He added that respect should guide interactions regardless of political differences or personal views.
Ossai also questioned whether such conduct would be acceptable if directed at someone in authority, noting that discipline and decorum are expected in public engagements, especially involving individuals representing the country abroad.
He wrote, “Peter Obi was disrespected here by Reno Omokri. I am not supporting Peter Obi but I have to expressed how I feel seeing this video because I am really disappointed. Why touch Peter Obi shoulder just to spite Him and create unnecessary drama. What if Peter Obi reacted negatively. Can Peter Obi do that to who employed him as an ambassador?”….Read_More…
