Former Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Idi Farouk, has commented on the growing list of political heavyweights positioning for the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Farouk made the remarks during an interview on Trust TV from 12:45, where he analysed the internal dynamics within the party as several prominent figures signal interest in the top seat. His comments come amid increasing political consultations and alignments across party lines.

Speaking on the competition, Farouk said, “Peter Obi wants to be president, Rotimi Amaechi wants to be, maybe even Nasir El-Rufai in incarceration wants to be, Rabiu Kwankwaso wants to be and only one can emerge and when that one emerges, I think it will be in their interest to come together and support that one.” His statement underscores the competitive nature of the race within the party.

Farouk noted that while multiple aspirants bring political weight and regional influence, the ability of the party to manage post-primary unity will be critical to its success in the general election.
