Paul Alani, a father of four whose wife died shortly after giving birth to quadruplets, has recounted the painful moments leading to her death, describing how what began as complaints of breathing difficulties ended in tragedy.

Alani made the revelation in an interview from 1:34 with Punch Newspapers, where he narrated how his wife’s condition worsened between Thursday evening and Friday morning despite efforts to get medical attention.

According to him, his wife repeatedly complained that she was struggling to breathe, prompting him to alert medical personnel attending to her. He said he called on doctors several times as her condition appeared to deteriorate, but she died before any intervention could save her.

“Throughout that Thursday evening till Friday morning, my wife was just complaining that she was not breathing well. I had to call the doctors and the doctors were coming, my wife just died and left me with the children,” Alani said.

The tragic account has sparked concern over maternal healthcare and emergency response in hospitals, with many Nigerians expressing sympathy for the widower and calling for a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Cases involving complications after childbirth have continued to raise questions about access to timely medical intervention, particularly in critical moments where swift action can determine survival.
