The closure of the United Kingdom embassy in Tehran and the reported evacuation of French embassy staff from the Iranian capital have triggered fresh speculation over a possible escalation in tensions in the Middle East.
The development gained widespread attention after political commentator Sulaiman Ahmad posted on X, saying, “Just in: UK embassy closes and France embassy has now evacuated all staff from Tehran. Something big is coming.”
The post quickly attracted widespread reactions, with many users expressing concern that the diplomatic moves could signal an imminent security crisis in the region. However, neither the UK nor France immediately provided public details explaining the reported actions.
Adding to the online debate, Seyed Mohammad Marandi, a professor of English at the University of Tehran and a political commentator, responded to Ahmad’s post with a warning.
“They should evacuate Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, and probably Oman immediately,” Marandi wrote on X, suggesting that neighbouring Gulf states could also face heightened risks if regional tensions escalate.
