According to a report by The Times Of Israel on July 23, 2026, US President Donald Trump said he is close to deciding on a major military strike against Iran, describing the potential operation as one that would exceed the scale of Operation Epic Fury.
Speaking to Axios, Trump indicated that preparations were already in place as his administration weighs its next move amid heightened tensions with Tehran.
“I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before. I am close to making a decision. We are all set for it,” he says.
The remarks come as relations between Washington and Tehran remain strained, with the US president signaling that military action remains an option. Trump has repeatedly issued strong warnings against Iran in the past, although several of those threats were never carried out.
During the interview, Trump also addressed the possibility of Israeli involvement in any future military operation. He suggested that Israel would be ready to participate if requested but stressed that the United States is capable of acting independently.
Israel “would join in two minutes if I asked them to,” Trump says, adding that “we don’t need anybody.” He also says there would be “consequences” if Israel joined in, likely referring to Iranian attacks on Israel.
Trump argued that additional military pressure on Iran would be necessary before any diplomatic breakthrough could be achieved. According to him, increased force would influence Tehran’s willingness to negotiate over ongoing disputes.
