Intelligence analyst Salihu Mahmoud has expressed concern over what he described as lapses in acting on intelligence reports ahead of deadly attacks on senior military officers in Nigeria’s North-East.

Mahmoud made the remarks during an interview from 11:18 on Trust TV, where he spoke on recurring ambushes targeting top-ranking officers, particularly in conflict-prone areas like Borno State.

Highlighting a recent incident, he said, “Look at the ambushes that killed most of the Brigadier generals, of recent Brigadier General Braimah. They said they had gotten intelligence report 3 days before that.” His statement suggests that prior warnings may not have been adequately acted upon, raising questions about the efficiency of intelligence coordination and response mechanisms.

Mahmoud argued that the pattern of attacks indicates systemic challenges within the security architecture, where actionable intelligence is sometimes either delayed, ignored, or poorly implemented. According to him, such gaps have continued to expose military personnel to avoidable risks, even when early warnings are available.
