According to a video from 03:50 posted on Fox News on Friday, July 10, 2026, Mark Chandler of Coastal Carolina University warned that a small team could easily cross into Turkey and smuggle shoulder-fired missiles through the country’s mountain passes.

Speaking on Live Now from Fox with host Josh Preslo, Chandler explained his concern in the context of President Trump’s recent trip to the NATO summit held in Turkey.

He said Turkey’s border security is not strong enough to stop determined groups from crossing undetected, creating an opening for hostile actors to move weapons into the region without being noticed.

In his words, Mark Chandler said, “If we recall, he was at the NATO summit in Turkey, and Turkey doesn’t have the best border security.

“So a small team could easily infiltrate through Turkey, bring some shoulder fired SAMs that’s easy to smuggle through the mountain passes out there and attempt to go after Air Force One,” he said.

Chandler tied this concern directly to reports that Israel had shared intelligence with the United States pointing to a fresh Iranian plot against the president.

He said the combination of weak regional border controls and Iran’s history of pursuing retaliation against the U.S. made the threat during the Turkey trip especially serious.

According to Chandler, this scenario was significant enough that it factored into decisions about the president’s security arrangements during and after the trip.

He added that even after returning to the United States, the president remains a target, since Iran is capable of using proxies and assets already present on American soil to continue pursuing its goals.

Chandler said the Turkey episode should be viewed as one example of how Iran’s broader strategy against U.S. leadership continues to evolve….See More
