According to a video from 00:04:25 posted on Fox News on Friday, July 10, 2026, Middle East analyst Mark Chandler of Coastal Carolina University warned that the threat to President Trump does not end at America’s borders.
Speaking on Live Now from Fox, Chandler explained that even though the president has returned home from the NATO summit in Turkey, the danger tied to Iran has not gone away.
Chandler traced the roots of the threat back to 2020, when the United States killed Qassem Soleimani, the head of the IRGC Quds Force.
Since that strike, he said, Iran has repeatedly vowed revenge against the president, and recent Israeli intelligence shared with Washington points to a renewed assassination plot.
Chandler noted that Israel’s intelligence service has strong access inside Iran, and both Israeli and American officials consider the information credible.
He also pointed out that Turkey’s weak border security could allow a small team to smuggle in shoulder-fired weapons, which is part of the reason the president used a different Air Force One earlier in the week.
But Chandler stressed that safety concerns extend well beyond travel logistics.
In his words, Mark Chandler said, “Just because he’s back here in America, Josh, doesn’t mean he’s, you know, completely safe and the threat can be taken off the table.
“Iran will work through proxies or assets it has here in the United States to continue this threat.”
Chandler added that Secret Service and other agencies maintain constant watch over the president, and that there have already been several assassination attempts against him, though it remains unclear whether Iran was directly behind those earlier incidents.
