Tensions in the world’s most critical maritime chokepoint reached a fever pitch this week as the United States launched a massive naval operation to break an Iranian blockade, while Tehran claimed to have fired warning shots at American warships.

The confrontation marks a dramatic escalation in the 2026 conflict, with the U.S. deploying what officials call a Hormuz Dome of advanced weaponry to protect global shipping.
