In a recent interview from 14:48 shared by Arise News, SAN and former Edo State Governor, Oserheimen Osunbor, addressed the growing controversy surrounding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its leadership dispute.
Speaking on the issue, Professor Osunbor reacted to the position of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which recently declared that “INEC said it will no longer receive correspondence from the ADC through its National Chairman and Secretary.” According to him, such a stance raises serious legal and constitutional concerns about the role of the electoral body in internal party matters.
He explained that political parties are independent organizations guided by their constitutions, and their leadership structures should not be arbitrarily disregarded without clear legal backing. Osunbor emphasized that once a party fulfills its legal obligations, including notifying INEC of its activities, the commission is expected to act within the confines of the law.
The former governor also noted that disputes over party leadership are often internal and should be resolved through established mechanisms or the courts, rather than administrative decisions. He warned that actions perceived as bias could undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
