Retired Colonel Frank Omenka, former Commander of the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI) Security Group under the late General Sani Abacha, has revealed details of a conversation he had with Abacha about the limits of his duties during his military service, as reported by PM NEWS on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Omenka made the statement while explaining how he defined his operational boundaries when assigned to military intelligence duties.
He said he told Abacha that he was ready to carry out any assignment given to him but would not take part in any operation involving the head of state. However, he added that he was willing to handle other assignments involving any other individuals if required.
He explained that his position was not meant as disrespect but as a professional boundary necessary for clarity in his role as an intelligence officer.
According to him,
“I told him, ‘Sir, there is only one person in Nigeria I cannot carry, and that is you. But from your wife downward, if there is a problem, I will carry anybody. I will tie them up if necessary.’”
