Buba Galadima has said that the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, promised to involve northern leaders and stakeholders in tackling some of the region’s biggest challenges if elected president.
Speaking during an interview from 17.32 on Arise News, Galadima said discussions with Obi focused on three major issues affecting Northern Nigeria: insecurity, agriculture, and education. According to him, Obi agreed that addressing these problems would not be a one-man effort but would include people from the region who understand the challenges.
Galadima explained that those supporting Obi believe they should also be held responsible for helping to find solutions if the next government succeeds or fails in improving security and development in the North.
He also criticized those attacking the Obi-Kwankwaso presidential ticket on tribal grounds. Galadima argued that some members of both the ruling APC and opposition parties have wrongly portrayed their support for Obi as promoting ethnic interests instead of focusing on national issues.
To support his argument, he pointed out that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had previously chosen Peter Obi as his running mate and also worked with Ben Obi and Ifeanyi Okowa. He questioned why some of Atiku’s supporters now criticize others for supporting an Igbo presidential candidate.
