Vice President Kashim Shettima has declared that leadership demands toughness and decisiveness, arguing that those who prefer a gentler approach are better suited to selling chocolates and ice cream than governing a nation.

Speaking in a media coverage by Channels TV from 2:05, Shettima said, “Just last week, one of the leading oil palm producers in Malaysia came to my office. I called the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno. First dial, he picked the phone. And these are people who are willing to invest 500 million dollars in oil palm, they will start with 10,000 hectares in Akwa Ibom. He said, ‘Given that, let them come and start work at once.’ This is leadership. Leadership means walking the talk. Leadership is about taking far reaching decisions. And leadership is not meant for nice men. Nice men should be selling chocolates, ice cream,” he said.

Shettima used the moment to make a broader appeal for Nigeria to reconnect with its agricultural roots, reminding his audience that the nation was built on a foundation of farming and that this heritage holds the key to addressing unemployment and poverty at scale….See More
