Global Mission Leader and Social Justice and Peace Advocate, Rev. Gideon Para-Mallam, has said former President Muhammadu Buhari failed to take stronger action against terrorists during his time in office despite the persistent insecurity that affected several parts of the country.

Para-Mallam made the statement during an interview from 10:41 on Channels Television while discussing the security challenges that escalated during Buhari’s administration, particularly in northern Nigeria and the Middle Belt region.

Reflecting on the late former president’s handling of insecurity, the cleric said Buhari had the opportunity to do more in confronting armed groups and criminal networks terrorising communities across the country.

“Late president Buhari could have done more to stop some of these terrorists. Unfortunately, he didn’t do so,” Para-Mallam said during the interview.

He argued that many Nigerians expected Buhari, a retired military general, to take decisive measures against insurgents, bandits and kidnappers when he assumed office, especially given his repeated promises to improve security.

According to the peace advocate, attacks on communities, displacement of residents and killings continued in several states despite military operations launched during the administration.

Para-Mallam noted that the prolonged violence left deep scars on affected communities, particularly in the North-Central region where many villagers were forced to abandon their homes and farms because of recurring attacks….Read_More…
