Senator Ali Ndume has stated that the budget for the armed forces should be frontloaded because Nigeria is in a war-like situation where military equipment is being destroyed at a rapid rate.
In a video from 14:04 shared by Arise TV, Ndume said a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, which costs between 3 billion naira and 4 billion naira, can be destroyed instantly by insurgents using rocket-propelled grenades (RPG) or by setting it on fire. He said the late General Oseni Braimah was in an MRAP vehicle when it was completely destroyed during the recent terrorist attack in Benisheikh
Ndume said MRAP vehicles are not produced in Nigeria and cannot be easily maintained locally
In Ndume’s words: “You can have and MRAP of 3 to 4 billion naira just destroyed with a rocket propelled grenade at once. Or the insurgents can set it ablaze at once. The general (Braimah) we lost in Benisheikh was in one of his MRAP and it was completely destroyed. And these are not locally produced so they cannot be locally maintained”. Read_More…
