Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a former presidential aspirant, has stated that his sister was kidnapped and taken to Sambisa Forest. He said she escaped after about two and a half years in captivity.

In a video from 2:21 shared by Arise TV, Hayatu said his sister showed great courage and strength during that period. He also said that he has lost several relatives to Boko Haram attacks. He said these experiences make the issue of insecurity deeply personal to him.

In Hayatu’s words: “My sister was actually kidnapped some years back and taken to Sambisa forest and she was able to escape after two and half years in captivity to be precise. She was a very brave and courageous young lady. That indelible mark still lives with the family.
