FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has alleged that Peter Obi joined the ADC coalition under the mistaken belief that he would have a genuine shot at the presidential ticket, not realising that Atiku Abubakar had already locked down every critical structure within the party long before the race began.

Speaking from 2:18 at a media parley on Channels TV, Wike said, “Obi was thinking he would have an opportunity there, but every area has been tied for Atiku. And so they laid that trap and everybody walked into the coalition. Look, when I was running, David Mark was the chief electoral officer in 2022. We respected him as the former Senate President for eight years, former senator for more than 12 years. And by electoral regulations, fairness, and campaign activities, you would say campaign activities will stop at a certain time.”

Wike recounted what he described as a defining moment of manipulation during the 2022 PDP presidential primary, where every aspirant addressed the delegates and the process appeared to be heading toward a vote until a sudden announcement changed everything.

He said Aminu Tambuwal was called back to the podium and announced he was stepping down, directing his supporters to vote for Atiku and crucially, the chief electoral officer David Mark never gave the remaining aspirants a chance to respond or counter the move.
