In an interview with the Sun on Sunday, May 10, 2026, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, delivered a withering logical takedown of claims that the ADC had been structured to favour former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, arguing that the timelines surrounding Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso’s own decisions to join the party completely undermined the narrative they were now pushing.

Abdullahi challenged the credibility of Obi’s complaint by questioning when exactly this alleged bias had become apparent to him. “If the party is structured to favour Atiku, at what point did Peter Obi realise that the party was structured to favour Atiku? Was it after he joined or before he joined?” he asked, framing the complaint as one that simply did not hold up under scrutiny.

He then reminded his audience of something that further complicated Obi’s position — that his entry into the ADC had itself been far from straightforward or enthusiastic. “Are you not aware that for a very long time, we were not even sure whether Peter Obi wanted to join the ADC or not?” he pressed, suggesting that a man who had taken so long to commit to the party was hardly in a position to claim deep knowledge of its internal biases.

Abdullahi turned his attention to Kwankwaso next, applying the same logic with equal force. “Kwankwaso — at what point did he realise that the party was structured to favour Atiku? He joined like one month or so ago. So, he didn’t know at that time that the party was structured to favour Atiku?” he asked, the rhetorical thrust of his questions making his skepticism plain.

He rounded off with a well-known Nigerian expression that he felt captured the situation perfectly. “If people wanted to kill a dog, they give it a bad name,” he said, suggesting that the allegations against the ADC were nothing more than a convenient excuse manufactured to justify decisions that had already been made for entirely different reasons….Read_More…
