According to the report from the Daily Post, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr Babachir Lawal addressed the growing discontent among the people regarding the suppression of dissenting voices in the political arena.
He highlighted the North’s dissatisfaction with the mistreatment of notable individuals such as Nasiru, Ningi, Ndume, and Dangote, either by the President or those acting on his behalf.
He further expressed concern over the involvement of the President’s close associates in the affairs of senior traditional institutions in the North West region.
He suggested that these actions might have the underlying goal of destabilizing the political and social harmony, as well as undermining the established hegemony in the northern region.
He said, “People are taking exceptions to these ways of handling contrary opinions in the polity. In the north we have taken great exception to the manner in which you (Tinubu) or people acting on your behalf maltreated, Nasiru, Ningi, Ndume and lately Dangote.
Your very close associates are also busy meddling in the affairs of Senior traditional institutions in the North West which we believe has the intended purpose of dismembering northern political and social harmony and hegemony.”….Sêe_Morē
