ADC founding chairman Ralph Nwosu has disclosed that Peter Obi actually participated in both APGA governorship primaries in which he emerged victorious, and that it was the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu who insisted that Obi should be adopted as the party’s consensus candidate.

Speaking from 32:39 on Symfoni TV, Nwosu said, “Peter Obi was a contestant in those two primaries. But what happened was that the then national chairman of the party, Chekwas Okorie, said that the leaders of the party had decided that Anambra should be a consensus. Because Ikemba was going to be our presidential candidate, and that presidential candidate said that for him to run, he should be allowed to nominate the person in his own state who would become the governor.”

Nwosu also recalled a dramatic moment involving Chekwas Okorie, who at one point swore an oath before Amadioha in the presence of party officials, vowing that the party would follow due process without any manipulation.
