According to a report by Nigerian Tribune on Friday, May 15, 2026, the leader of Primate Elijah Ayodele has issued a caution to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, advising him not to depend entirely on northern governors in relation to his anticipated bid for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He warned that the political support being counted on may not be as solid as it appears, urging close attention to evolving political alignments within the ruling structure.

The message was contained in a statement released through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, where the cleric raised concerns about the level of commitment from some political actors in the northern region.

He stated that the perceived unity or backing being associated with certain northern governors may not fully reflect their actual political intentions or long-term loyalty.

According to him, there are indications that some governors are driven by individual political interests that may not align with Tinubu’s re-election project.

He suggested that such interests could gradually reshape alliances and create divisions within the existing support base, especially as the political environment becomes more competitive.

He further warned that failure to carefully monitor activities within the president’s political circle could lead to avoidable setbacks.

He emphasized that internal dynamics within political structures often shift quickly, and any lack of vigilance might expose leadership campaigns to unexpected challenges.

The cleric also made predictions regarding the upcoming party primaries across different political platforms, noting that the exercises could significantly alter the fortunes of several prominent politicians.

He suggested that the outcomes may not favour some influential figures who currently hold strong political positions, as internal contests are expected to be highly unpredictable.

He added that these developments would not be limited to opposition parties alone, noting that the ruling All Progressives Congress could also experience internal surprises and shifts in power during its selection processes.

The cleric’s remarks come at a time of increased political consultations, alignments, and repositioning among key stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“A lot of people will cry, powerful people will fall across political parties, including the APC. Not all the people following Tinubu and singing on your mandate will survive it,” he stated….Read_More…
