Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has revealed how a political disagreement involving his longtime ally and actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot nearly created serious tension around his position in government.
Speaking during an interview from 3:07 on Channels Television, Gbajabiamila recounted events surrounding a political controversy in Lagos, expressing disappointment over actions he said escalated religious divisions within the ruling party.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives said the situation became troubling when the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) allegedly wrote official complaints to him and to the party over issues tied to Elliot’s political activities.
“For Desmond to be getting CAN to be writing official letter to me and to the party causing division between the Muslims and the Christians as far as I’m concerned is unacceptable,” Gbajabiamila said during the interview.
The remarks appear to reference internal political disagreements that emerged during electioneering in Lagos State, where religious balancing and party loyalty became sensitive subjects among members of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
