Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South, has rejected Boko Haram’s demand of N5 billion for the release of 416 abducted women, children and elderly from Ngoshe, Borno State, according to report by PUNCH on Tuesday April 20, 2026.

He made the remarks when asked whether the government should consider paying to free the captives. Ndume said the state and federal authorities must refuse any deal with terrorists and instead pursue all possible measures to secure the victims’ release.

Ndume also confirmed that some engagement and relief efforts are underway, noting that displaced families are receiving assistance. He said the National Emergency Management Agency and other agencies have begun sending humanitarian supplies to those in IDP camps, but stressed that rescuing the captives must remain the top priority.
