In a recent interview from  on TVC News, Mojeed Jamiu, executiv editor of Upshot Media, spoke on the ongoing internal struggles within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the reactions that followed recent judicial pronouncements affecting the party’s leadership tussle.

During the interview, Jamiu stated, “After the Supreme Court judgment, the Nyesom Wike and Makinde group were jubilating.” He made the remark while analyzing the political atmosphere within the PDP following the Supreme Court’s decision on internal party disputes.

He referenced prominent political actors including Nyesom Wike and Seyi Makinde, noting that the judgment was interpreted differently by various factions within the party, leading to contrasting reactions among stakeholders.

Jamiu explained that the PDP has continued to experience internal divisions driven by leadership struggles, zoning disagreements, and competing interests for control of the party’s structure.

According to him, court decisions in political matters often intensify existing rivalries, as different groups tend to interpret outcomes in ways that support their respective positions.

He added that such developments reflect the deeper structural challenges facing the PDP as it attempts to manage unity among powerful political blocs with differing ambitions.

Jamiu further stated that internal disagreements within major political parties are not unusual in Nigeria, especially ahead of major elections where control of party machinery becomes highly contested.
